Baybury Bank Farm: A Family Retreat on the Bay
Creative Brief by Veronica Revilla
Inspired by its history and surroundings, the Sutton family retreat in Saint Michaels will offer a relaxing atmosphere that inspires a true indoor-outdoor living experience and encourages a connection to nature.
A harmonious relationship between the classic farmhouse style and a contemporary aesthetic will result in a timeless design. Elements with natural, rich textures will bring warmth and add a sense of character to spacious rooms filled with natural light. Decorative elements and art pieces that reference the farm history and its location will be incorporated to create a unique design story.
The interiors of this home are intended to be curated and considered, yet comfortable and relaxed. The functionality of each space will be a major point of consideration in the design process. These purposefully planned interiors will be well-suited for entertaining but also very livable.
The ultimate goal is to create an environment that suits the needs of all the members of the family, reflects them and their lifestyles, and offers them comfort and pleasure in their new home.
Shapes
Straight lines will be softened by pieces with organic silhouettes creating interesting and balanced compositions.
Materials
Various materials with rich textures will be layered to heighten the tactile experience and create an inviting, warm atmosphere.
